Best, I think we have enough info get a minimum order quantity and a ball park price for various order sizes.

Sorry I haven't been able to check in. Marty, looks good - I just think the lines need to be a little thicker. The letters need a thick, black outline.
Gold ink can be done by silkscreen, no problem. If the decal maker does them that way, then we're "Golden." ;) The only metallic inkjet printer I know is (was) the Alps. Silkscreen is a great choice onto the water-slide because the ink is thick and strong. Let's see if we can get that done.
Looks like we would have a lot of takers if we do this.
I agree gold printers ink is the way to go It can be done on a press too but not sure there are to many press runners out there any more. And boy is it a bitch to clean up afterwards. I used to run a press any metallic ink is a bitch to clean up. I think the amount of sales for them will be dependent on how accurately the decals are replicated. :)
I agree that accuracy will be the key to sales. It is a group project so please don’t worry about hurting my feelings with comments on the drawings I post. The drawings are easy to manipulate so once they are done they can be tweaked. I can post 8-1/2 PDFs if that makes them easier to correct but we can cross that bridge when we come to it.
Guys these decals are not going to be cheap ! I just got some prices on these.. If someone else can get them cheaper by all means. Here is the email Rudy sent me.They are obviously a lot of work.. Heres Rudy's comment.
Hello John, I seen the link..and read the comments.
I can do water slide- My size should be correct -to what I sent you in a photo.
This involves:
Art work; Film positives / expose silkscreens.
(4) silksreen made set ups / run time / cleanup.
Print clear down first on Special paper-Special inks
Print gold
Print Black
Clear coat top
100-200 decals would be $12.50 each.
Please let me know...
Regards, R.j
Thanks AB. Yep, for short runs like this it's the setup fees that will kill us. They don't matter much for long runs.
There is a follow on eBay who does very nice guitar water-slide decals. I doubt he can do metallics, but might do a good imitation. He charges $15 for 2 decals, but I would imagine that the price would go way down for a run the size we want.
We need to decide if we want inkjet printing (good) or silkscreen (great). There will be a big difference in price, delay and quality.
Alps MD5000 could do it if we can find somebody with one
Yes, "if".
I've tried inkjet on water-slide and it was a disaster. The Alps might do better, tho, I don't know.
I could check with my cousin, he owns a big sign shop.
Here is one for that you can comment on http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...yh45/logo8.jpg
If the cost of metallic ink gets too high there is always the two step process I mentioned earlier. Artist supply houses sell an imitation gold leaf that can be set first with a mask for the glue and then a waterslide of the black outline could be set over the top of that. It's a little bit of screwing around but I think you would end up with a pretty nice imitation. I've had success with laser-jet waterslide paper with spray lacquer over the top
